Sitchin has stated that ca 3500 B.C. a small party of Anunnaki led by Enki & Ningizzida travelled to the Americas. Their mission was to establish gold mining operations there. There is some credibility in his supposition as statues manufactured by the Olmecs & Toltecs all feature persons of African origin. The lion also was featured in many carvings – a beast never found in the Americas.

Quetzalcohuātl was the feathered serpent god who imparted knowledge. Quetzalcohuātl means "feather-serpent". He was the patron god of the Aztec priesthood, of learning and knowledge. http//www.crystalinks.com/sg.html.

He provided mankind with sacred geometry. The Egyptians named Quetzalcohuātl Thoth. He was married to Ngeshtin-ana (Gugulana – sister of the deceased Dumuzi). Thoth was also Ningizzida, son of Enki. Quetzalcohuātl wore a Tau cross. To the Maya he was Kukulcan or Ququmatz: Both mean "feathered serpent". Ningizzida was of the serpent family – the family of Enki. He wore a feathered serpent outfit during ceremonies.
